Asking for my Mother-In-Law.
She has a gunite I/G that is currently Bromine and she wants to go to SWG.
Is this possible without draining all the water?
What other complications might she face?
Heard that the pool bottom may lift if drained.

Thanks

Well in reality you would be switching from Bromine to Chlorine. Then you would make the appropriate adjustments (salt, CYA) to start using a SWG.

Looking through a few posts, it appears that you would indeed have to replace the water to get the bromine out ... otherwise any chlorine you add to the pool gets converted to bromine.

Whether complications arise when draining a pool is mainly due to the underground water level. If the ground water level is below the pool, then the pool will not float. Here I have had 2 different pools completely drained with no issues, but I think the water level is a few 100 feet down.
