I am in Virginia Beach and am not "closing" Can I let salt levels and cya be a little low for the winter?
Had to empty 10-14" during the Sandy Storm and my CYA is now 35, salt around 2600
FC, PH, TA all withing range and seem pretty stable 5.5, 7.6, 60 respectively

Thanks,

Cush Dobbs

It depends on the water temperature. Algae slows way down when the water gets down in the 50s and 60s. The SWG will probably also shut down with low temperature, so there's no real point in getting the salt level up if it won't help any.

I see no problem with letting things drop. Keep pH and FC maintained, let the water level change with winter storms, and be ready to get everything balanced properly in the spring. As an aside, if you can expect to lose more water, you'd be a good candidate for pucks in a floater, as long as you keep an eye on the CYA level.
