Gunite was completed last night. Had a nice shower this morning to wet the gunite and slow the cure. Electrical will be done on Tuesday, and tile and coping start on Wednesday. If the weather holds up, we should be filling with water on Friday Oct. 26th!

So far so good! Builder is Kathy Best of Best Backyard Pools. Nothing but good things to say thus far.

Another builder in the area that I've not heard of. And I have a couple dozen on my list that are local.

What design decisions have you made on your tile, coping and decking? My wife and I decided on precast concrete coping. It took 6 weeks to have it made. I see why others choose stone or brick.

Hi Kim,

I'll see about posting this thread in my signature line. getting-ready-to-sign-on-the-dotted-line-t53687.html It is a big pool. In fact, now that it is in gunite, it seems bigger than what we had laid out with cones and string in the back yard! hahahaha.

bigdav,

We are going with a pretty standard tile( Master Tile and is their number ALFNEPBEH6) and flagstone coping(Cheyenne blend from Alamo stone). Have you finished your tile and coping install yet? We had bids from Supreme, Topaz, Atlantis, and met with Custom Pool Concepts(never returned with a bid). Kathy has done several pools in our neighborhood, and we felt we got the most bang for our buck without having to give up any of the things we wanted. I seriously considered being the GC myself, but with three small kids, I knew I would be pressed for time as well as being in the doghouse if it took much more than 3-4 weeks :hammer:

Tile and coping were completed on Friday, along with the two jump rocks. Stone sealant is scheduled for Monday, decking on Tuesday, plaster prep on Wednesday, pebble sheen application on Thursday with the acid wash and begin fill on Friday. Everything has gone smoothly so far.

We had the decking done yesterday, and plaster prep today. Pebble Sheen goes down tomorrow! Spray deck will be applied in about two weeks, then the work of getting the yard back in order can begin...
