Water leak from Hot Tub

I have noticed that I have a water leak from my hot tub because the water level changes when the pool is not running. However when the pump is on...there is no leak.

Would love to hear any ideas on this.

Are the spa and pool connected? It's probably a valve or check valve leaking allowing the spa to drain back into the pool.

Thanks for the response. The spa and pool are connected. The spa is suppose to overrun into the pool by a waterfall system. I have 2 check valves installed at the pump; 1 on the water line coming out of the ground (this is one that a pool company said I needed) and 1 (the existing one) on the line that feeds the pump.The spa continues to drain itself at times but not all the time. We always thought that it drained back into the pool but now I have a large pool of water at my valve station near the spa. Mor digging on my part to see where its leaking. Yee Haww
