Closing...Taking out light and steps??

Our pool has a underwater light. Do we need to take that out before we put the cover on it? If so, I read somewhere something about "Lowering" your light...I don't know what that means.

Also, do we need to take the stairs out of the pool before closing it? They are large stairs, and are REALLY heavy. I think they may be weighted down.

We just bought this house, and it has the pool, and we have NO CLUE about this stuff. Please help!!!
