Closing an above-ground pool; Draining the water

I had a pretty good neighbor that let me borrow his shop vac year after year to start the suction to drain my above ground pool at closing time. Well, he moved, and I'm looking to see if there is a cheap alternative to buying a Wet-Dry Shop Vac. Is there a cheap little pump out there that will be strong enough to start the siphoning process?

Pretty easy actually on a AGP. Attach your vaccum head to one end of vaccum hose, put the other end over your return to fill it with water and then once all the air is out cover the same end with your hand and drag it over the pool wall. Water should start siphoning out, but do keep an eye on it as you call also empty the whole pool

While it's draining is a good time to unhook all your filter equipment :goodjob:
