i was wondrering if there is somthing to seal of my main drain other then a screw in cover, w/ pool still filled w/ water, somthing like a suction cup, just temperary for winter that i can install quickly holding my breath as i do not have scuba gear lol, i know this sounds silly but i figured i just had to ask, as this could help me eliminate the drain as a possible leak.

Try a rubber floor mat (with a smooth side).
If that doesn't work you might try some visqueen (If the drain is actually leaking, water pressure will hold it in place)
