Filter upgrade

I was thinking of changing my Sta-Rite HRPB30 sand filter (14years old) to a cartridge. The old filter has a filter area of
4.9ft2. Based on flow rate per hour the cartridge filter I had in mind was a 320ft2 Pentair Clean and Clear Plus. Would this be a good choice? Any suggestions regarding cartridge filters would be welcome. The pool is 10,500 gallons.

What is prompting the switch from sand to cartridge?

I've read that cartridge filters can filter out smaller particles than a sand filter, ans since my filter is old I figured, why not.

Yes, cartridge filters will filter finer particles, though not everyone can see the difference. They also save water because cleaning a cartridge takes much less water than backwashing a sand filter. On the other hand some people are bothered by the "mess" of cleaning a cartridge filter.

I would love to hear about your experiences with the new filter and how it compares to the old one once you have had it for a while.
