Picked up a 1994 cal spa off CL. 8x8, dual pumps, PS 4B pack, no air, cover, fresh cartridge. leveled it, framed it, filled it up. Ran a temp wire (6ga aluminum) just to see if it worked. GFCI works, pumps work, PS4 works. Never got to the heater, the jets weren't coming on. Hit the booster pump and the collar cracked on the pump. Drained it, pulled a jet, gaskets were shot. All 30 jets. 2 gaskets a jet. *great*. Took the ozonator (Cal Zone) out. Bulb was bad, wasn't hooked up anyway. Got a new collar installed, waiting on gaskets to be delivered, found 30' of 8/4 soow for cheap, built a PVC cover lifter.

So yeah, Hillbilly Hot Tub attempt #2 is well under way.

Questions:
How do I determine water capacity??
The pillows are falling out, can I glue/silicone 'em in?
4 wires out, 4 wires in, yeah?? no big surprises?

so, one pump pulls 12/3.5 amps (hi/lo?), the other pulls 10amps. My heater is a C&R SPECIALTIES 15" FLOW THRU HEATER 5.5KW. Can't locate the amperage. But, with the pumps pulling 22amps, surely the 35amp wire will be ok? The heater isn't going to pull 13 amps, right??

Unless I'm confused, 5.5kW is a great deal more than 13 amps.

See this site:

Looks like 25 amps @ 220v.

Not too surprising given the fact that at 120v a 1500 watt heater draws 13 amps.
