Digging 18x36 IG

I do have an excavator doing this part, but im obsessed with knowing every detail. In the link below, the entire dig makes sense until I get to the deep end and angled sides. The angled sides section specifically seems confusing.

Anyone how has dug it themselves and layed it out themselves, can you add any clarity to the angled sides section?

I do not have much to add on doing it myself, but when our pool was excavated there was no slope to the lines. Looking at your link, the slopes seem very defined and may affect the total square footage of your pool.
