Borax (Borates) allowed in non-SWG pool?

I'm new here, so sorry for the newbie question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer in any of the posts.

My question is this:

Is there a benefit to introducing Borax to a non-saltwater pool?

Bonus follow up question:

Will it do any harm to introduce Borax to a non-saltwater pool? (Besides the pet drinking issue)

Borates are a benefit to ANY pool, IMHO. In fact, most of the commercial borate products are sold and marketed for pools using trichlor and biguanide sanitizer systems. only a small handful are specifically targeted for salt pools.

Hi Queequeg,

There are a couple of articles written by Waterbear about adding borates to your pool.

They can be found in the "Stickies" section at the top of any page in the sub-headings.

Welcome to TFP! :)
