Intex SWG

I see the newer Intex units are also utilizing a copper ion cell. What are the ramifications of that? I can only assume it's for algae control, which a properly chlorinated pool wouldn't suffer from anyway. But won't those copper ions build up and accumulate to levels where greenish discoloration of the water will occur due to chlorine oxidation of the copper?

Sounds like your are right on the money with everything you said. Most people here disconnect the copper part of the SWG for the reasons you mention.
