Suction side leak?

I just installed a new Intelliflo VF and AA Leaf Vac to replace a cracked Leaf Vac and dead pump. I don't think I have any bad joints and when I stop the pump water no longer spirts (it did with the previous setup) from anything but I still have air in my pump basket and Leaf Vac. I used the O rings that came with the pump and Leaf Vac and they are well lubed and clean.

How long would you expect it to take for air in the pump basket and Leaf Vac to "clear out?"

Should clear in a couple minutes on a higher speed. On lower speeds it is not uncommon to have an air bubble in the pump basket.
