Seal for Kreepy Krauly Kruiser Keeps Coming Off

I let my pool get green when I was away for several months and then I shocked it. Somewhere along the way, the seal got very worn out like and now comes off frequently enough to cause me a headache. I have not yet tied any DYI methods to keep it on there. Anyways, a replacement is very expensive. I found one site selling for $55 but most others in the range of $65-80. Ouch!

Does anyone have any tricks about this or generic versions? I emailed a few ebay auctions for what looked like generic seals but they said it would not work with my model.
