Caretaker 99 owners - does heads rotate cont. or index

Hello to all,
Please confirm whether or not caretaker 99 head rotate continuously as water exit the head as it sweep debris to main drain. Or is it just index to different position as it cycle from zone to zone. I looked at one head while its in cycle and there is no movement or rotating. Defective head?

Caretaker heads rotate each time they cycle down and back up. If you go to a head during its active cycle and push it down, you will notice it comes up in a different position.

Is there a easy way to remove the heads without using the head removal tool? If you follow my other thread concerning Caretaker 99, you'll understand why I ask this simple or stupid question. Some of the heads does not retract full after cycle. I'm think is dirty and need a good cleaning, I saw some salt built up on the dolphin back and fin and there might be some on the heads as well. Thoughts?

I have never taken the heads out without the tool.

Didn't notice this sooner...here's my way. An old piece of a tree stake, a couple nails, cut the heads off with a dremel, and you just saved 16.95 plus shipping
