I have a Pentair 011511 that looks like this.

The pump is making very bad noises like a bearing is going. I am trying to take it apart to see what the problem is. I removed the motor and diffuser from the pump housing. How do you remove the impeller, does it take a special puller? I took the screw out of the center and gave the mounting plate a few tugs but didn't want to get too aggressive with it.

On my Hayward Super II pump, I had to remove the end cap off the motor (opposite end of pump). There was a nut that's part of the shaft that the impeller is screwed on to. Held that nut with a wrench, turned the impeller with hand. Your model appears to have an impeller lock screw on the impeller itself as well. Here's a manual that might help http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/WhisperFlo%20OM.pdf.

Thanks to all the help I got the seal changed but I noticed that the seal plate was cracked around the thread inserts. I put it back together gently but it didn't last very long at all before the pump started leaking. I pulled it apart and sure enough it pulled all 4 threaded inserts out of the case then bound on the shaft cracking the ceramic seal. I read the thread below about similar plate problems.

The part number is Pentair 350201.

Anyways, after looking for a replacement part one of my local pool guys couldn't find that number so he looked it up and came up with a different replacement part number 074564. I googled it and came up with an ebay ad and it shows both part numbers for the same part.

The 350201 is $169-189 locally.
The 074564 is $69.95 locally.

If it is the same part what is with the price difference? I am going to assume the 074564 doesn't come with the seal and gasket but that amounts to $15 in parts no $100. Anybody?

Update: I picked up my 074564 seal plate today and it is the plain seal plate with no seal or gasket. Not sure why it is so much cheaper than the other part number though.
