I need to replace the o-ring on the shaft of my sta-rite slide valve but I don't see how to get the cap off without breaking it. How do you do this? I see the shaft seal o-rings for sale by themselves and I have spares but I don't want to break this thing trying to fix it. I would rather pay the couple of dollars to replace the o-ring rather than spend the $80 to replace the whole assembly.

Once you remove all the screws from the cap it should lift off. It's probably going to take a little force to move it but it should come loose.
I got the top off and replaced the o-ring that goes around the plastic shaft seal, but there is a 5/8ths o-ring at the very top that is broken that is underneath a plactic cap that attaches to the cover. It looks like it is epoxyed in and I am stuck because the o-ring is poking through the plastic ring and water is leaking from the top around the shaft.
