Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda vs. Borax

The local walmarts around here have been out of borax for a while. Does the A&H super washing soda do the same thing? Is this what the pool calculator calling 'washing soda'? This says sodium carbonate on box.

These are not the same thing. Super washing Soda will raise your pH, but will not increase Borates in your water. If your motivation for using Borax was strictly to raise pH, you can use the Washing Soda, but make sure to input the right data on Pool Calculator. If you are trying to get Borates in your water, wait and use the Borax, along with any Muriatic Acid needed to control the pH rise.

Sodium Carbonate is sold by pool places as PH Increaser! It certainly works!
