cloudy pool all chemicals good except won't keep chlorine

We have a 30 foot round pool with apprx..21,000 gallons of water...we did not cover pool and it was a neon green algae disaster =( we got rid of chlorine but pool has not been clear ALL summer...we have put liquid shock, stablizing shock, bleach...still not clear...we put clarifier in and recently floc'd it but still not clear. ALL our chemicals are good...calcium, alkalinity, ph...we put 3 lbs of shock in the other night and in the morning it only read 2...we thought it would be reading higher chlorine levels. It just seems to not be able to hold chlorine..and it is SOOO cloudy....

We are having a swimming party in a few days and want it to be clear or even somewhat clear....any suggestions??????

Read Pool School. What you're doing to the pool isn't at all what Pool School teaches us.

Read Pool School many times. It's a lot to take in in one read.
