new style vacuum heads

My old vacuum head had brushes and has served me well for the past 7 years. It's looking pretty shabby so I decided to get a new one. Went to 3 pool stores and none of them have vacuum heads with brushes. I explained to them that I liked this type of head and none of them tried to point out advantages to the non brush type.
I wonder, why have the manufacturers switched to this new style?
Is there an advantage or is it just new for the sake of being new?
Anyone know about this?

Both kinds are fairly common. Vacuum heads with brushes are normally only used on vinyl liner pools, while the kind without brushes are designed for use on plaster/concrete pools.

I have a concrete pool. If any one of the 3 pool "professionals" I spoke with had mentioned that they would have sold me.
