Leak on Start Up of Pump

We had a leak over winter, which was solved as it was the niche on the pool light. Now it seems when the pump first turns on, we lose 1/8-1/4 inch of water. We do not seem to lose any additional water throughout the day or overnight, just when the pump is initially turned up.

Any ideas as to which lines to check?

TIA.

No the leak is not cumulative. Our guess now is that it is on the return side and the hole initially lets water out but b/c of the force of the water afterwards the initial start, little gets through. Or the when the hole sits over night with no pressure, it leaks underground.

Husband is going to dig around the equipment pad this w/e. He had pulled some landscape stakes out a few weeks ago and replaced the outline of river stone with pavers instead. Wonder if one of the stakes had been "nailed" into a pipe and was "sealed" until DH removed the stake. The landscaper had punctured a pipe closer to the pool two years ago when they had completed the landscaping. Let's hope it is that easy which would also be an easy fix.
