Our spa side controller (Jandy 4 button) has gone on the fritz and needs to be replaced. I haven't found much information online about replacing these units. Do the controllers need to be replaced as a single unit, re-pulling the wires from/to the power center? Or, is it acceptable to cut off the existing 4 button controller and connect the existing wires to the new controller? The Jandy/Zodiac website is dearly lacking in information.

If re-pulling the wires is the way it needs to be, what helpful hints can you pass along?

Thanks!

Disconnect the wire at the Aqualink end.

Make sure that the wire will move in the conduit (pull back & forth that is).

If it does, you cut the wire at the controller, then splice the wire for the new controller to the old wire and use the old wire to pull the new wire through.

Or, you can use the old wire to pull a piece of twine from the Aqualink out to the pool, then use the twine to pull the new wire back through the conduit.

Do make sure you buy the new controller with enough wire (they come in different lengths).

If the old wire won't pull, ie the conduit is crushed; that is probably the reason it failed.
