New pool - in-deck water feature missing...

We purchased a new home and it has an in-ground pool (spec's below in my sig line). One of the water features it has is built into the side of the pool, above the waterline. When I turn the valve on, water gushes out of it, similar to a garden hose. It's flush with the wall, but the hole is threaded, as if it had some attachment on it. When I was a kid, we had a pool and I remember there being some sort of small white adapter that produced a canopy of water - like a rainbow across the pool. My guess is that is what was here at one time, but they either removed it, or it broke and they didn't replace it.

Hopefully I'm making sense. Anyone know where I can find such a thing?

Sounds like a water deck jet. Google pool deck jet nozzle. You will have to know what diameter it is but that should be it.

Maybe my Google-fu is weak, but I can't find anything. It turns up the kind that go on top of the pool deck and shoot into the pool, or jets for spas, means for under the water-line.

I am pretty sure it would be the deck jet style if it is above the water line and not a return. They may be all the same size not for sure though. Is this something like what you have?

What is missing is your aerator. There should be a valve you can turn off that looks like a water faucet control. A replacement can be purchased from your local pool store. The aerator looks like this:
