The dreaded "white stuff"?

Has anyone determined any of the factors leading to the dreaded "white stuff"?

Is the brand of bleach or chlorine involved?
Is the base water at fault?
Climate?

Anyone in the Charlotte NC area using one without this problem?

pH off, high CH, TA off.
Those are the three that'll cause it, usually in combination. I cleared the white stuff from my LQ (used to use LQ) by adding borates and getting my TA and pH right.

yeah, most likely high CH and high pH combo. Check those values and get back to us.

No LQ yet... Ph is 7.5 but ch is 350, ta 180.
