Another new pool owner

Got the pump working and most of it is functioning (pressure gauge is stuck). The heater is squirting water out a pressure release valve or something. I'm trying to include picture. Let's see how this goes and see if anyone can help. The heater is about 13 yrs old. It's a repo house and I've got my work cut out for me.

Welcome to TFP!

That looks like a drain valve. They tend to turn in the opposite direction to what you might expect. In any case, turn it one way or the other and the water flow will stop (unless it is jammed).

Thanks for the help. Got it figured out. Now, to tackle the pool itself.
