i have a 27,000gal pool and it is saying that i need 650 lbs of salt to start up... does that sound right? i have a krystal clear saltwater system by intex. please help

That sounds like about the right amount of salt, but only if your starting salt level is zero! The salt level hardly ever starts at zero, and can sometimes be quite high, so it is a good idea to test the salt level before adding all of the salt.
By the by, I don't expect an Intex SWG to be able to work well with a pool that large. It is really designed for pools half that size or smaller.
