Those Floting Trichlor / Dichlor Tabs - use or not ?

Ok, I received some conflicting information and just trying to nail this down -- Current owners have 1 of those floating chlorine blue things - Trichlor or Dichlor, right?? I was planning on just switching over to the total BBB method from whatever the current pool service is doing, using the TF-100 test kit to analyze & adjust - checking pH and Chlorine levels daily (FC, TC, CC) - adding conditioner & liquid chlorine as needed to balance.

Are those floating chlorine things a necessity, or is my daily 'adjustment' of adding chlorine a better method? When would you ever use those floaters? Vacation ??? again, thanks so much ...

Those tablet floaters are not needed and can create issues if left parked next to things. Manually adding chlorine is much better than that. Save them for vacations, etc.

You will find occasions to use the floaters, but most of the time you will want to use Bleach for chlorine additions. Those tablets keep really well so hang on to them.
