What's wrong with putting a loin in a crockpot? I make mean shredded pork tacos this way. Rub it with spices, cook it slow all day and throw some chili peppers in adobo sauce with a little tom. sauce at the end. Yum 
The recipe calls for shoulder but I can never find it so I use loin. 8)

Shoulder is also referred to as a butt roast, or picnic roast (2 roasts of a shoulder) Loins are leaner and should be cooked at higher temps. But if it works for you, then great!
