backyard elevation difference-- "raise" the pool?

Hi,

What is the best way to deal with yard that is sloping toward the house? The elevation difference is about 6" high from the back of my yard.
Is raised bond beam at the back better than "building up" the pool so that the deck will slope up from the house to meet the "build up" pool? I am worry about drainage issues with the slope up deck, since the house will be sitting at the bottom of the slope.
Any experience out there with the "build up" method?

Thank you!

You need to form a swale between the pool and the house, which will redirect any runoff away from the house. It is simplest if the pool is a little higher than the ground around it, so runoff does not run into the pool. The other option is to build a wall behind the pool, but it doesn't sound like you have enough change in elevation to make that look right.
