Anyone know what this stuff in the skimmer is?

I think it might be DE but usually DE settles like little sand dunes on the bottom of a pool. This stuff floats.

it feels gritty. I haven't put stabilizer in for like 2 weeks so can't be that. Unless it had some left over inert ingredient. I'm opening up the DE filter tomorrow to inspect and clean it. will see if there are any cracks in the manifolds. also seals might be leaking. thats always hard to see but usually can feel when you bump the filter.

Could it be something out of a foam filled pool toy or toy-toy taken into the pool? Some of my kids' toys have little flakey/beady things that look like that - never had one open in a pool, but they sure get everywhere in the house when one has a hole.

Has anyone fertilized the lawn recently? A lot of that stuff is slow-dissolving, so it feeds the lawn for months at a time.

It looks like styrofoam to me. I found some stuck on the sie of my pool just today. Is it "squishy"?

I still think its DE or some inert ingredient. will open the EC65 today.
