Solar Cover, Heater and Pump

If you have the cover on there really is no need to let the skimmers work as there is nothing getting in the water - it is falling onto the cover.

I have operated my pool for 10 years with the pump running and the solar cover on -- and only take it off when someone wants to swim with no problems.

I also run my pump (and heat pump on my last pool) with the solar cover on. I usually close the skimmer and pump from the drain to circulate the the coldest water from bottom out the returns to the top in order to warm the pool a little faster.

Great idea! I run my heat pump with a solar cover on, as well, but have been frustrated (last season, haven't run it yet this season) with the s-l-o-w rate at which my temp. would come up. Maybe closing the skimmers will help this year...
