Routinely dosing Algecide.....

I did not routinely dose algecide last season. But we only had from early Sept to Late October before closing. PB left 2 full bottles of Algecide at opening and I can't decide if I need to use this routinely. They did put a full bottle in at opening. It is Pool Season Algae Control 60. I run my SWG, FC runs about 8, CYA is about 90. Is there any reason I should routinely add this? I want to keep my additives as simple as possible and not add anything that is not necessary.

I never use algecide at all, (algecide apparently cannot be spelled correctly). Even if you do get algae, you can shock it out with bleach.

I only use algaecide when closing for the winter.

Nor have I. If you maintain your chlorine properly you don't need it.

I dose at maintenance levels with non-foaming algaecide 60 (poly-something 60%) on a bimontly basis. Why???? Because I run a high CYA and higher FC levels, and want a window or cushion if the FC gets a little low. Hey, it happens.
