restoring straining cover tranperancy

the cover for my superpump strainer basket is dull and not very transparent. the pump is old, so the sun made enough damage to make it difficult for me to see what's inside.

i was thinking about polishing it to make it nice and clear again. any recommendation on what to use? to keep it along the lines with BBB, will some house hold substance will work?

I don't know of any household item that will work unless you have some Bon-Ami on hand. I'm not real sure that'd help.

Meguiars headlight restorer kit would be your best bet but you could probably buy a new lid for less than the restorer kit.

googling around revealed that old dull car headlights might be restored with some regular tooth paste. i might give it a try

Meguirs Plastx works http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-PlastX-P ... B0000AY3SR almost as well as shaving cream mixed with cigarette ashes. If you do the shaving cream, use the old fashioned foamy type, not the gel. Either removes yellowing and small scratches.
