Hi alll...

I'm a newbie here and a now retired boater. We sold our boat because the girls wanted a pool more than a boat. Since an in-ground pool was beyond our budget, we went for a 27' round at 52" high. I know I'll have questions and wanted to start a thread to show the install process.

We live in Danbury, CT and got our pool and equipment from a wonderful pool company in Plainville, CT called Paradis Pools.

Installed so far as of 10 June:
- 27' round 52" Distinction LX
- Silt/Clay base power tamped
- Double foam layer of instulation over base
- Double foam layer of insulation around walls
- Hayward 1.5 HP cartridge filter
- Chlorinator and mineral cartridge system
- Raypak 266K BTU propane heater
- 2 120 gallon propane tanks
- 50 AMP outdoor breaker box with 6 circuits and timer (3 additional circuits remain for deck lighting and deck outlets and any future expansion)

Still left to do as of 10 June:
- Electrical and pool inspection
- Permit for deck contruction and deck with ralings, gate, and deck and interior pool lighting

Here are the pics of the install as of 10 June. The actual work was completed between 18 May and 03 June.

Girls are 9 and 7 and were tired of boating and really only liked to swim and forego the tubing and rides. Although we are not complete, they are loving it!

The company we bought the pool from had a free "Pool School" we just attended the other night and ran us through everything for nearly 3 hours. Great experience!

Water and weed border installation as of 10 June. The actual work was completed between 18 May and 03 June.

75 12" border bricks ready top lay. I'll probably need 30 or 40 more after getting these home.

Border nearly complete around the half of the pool the will not have a deck - the other half will need to wait for the deck footings to go in in a week or so.

Great job!.............and a word of advice. Don't let the kiddos or their friends get in the habit of sitting on those pool rails.

Ah, that's a great age for a pool. So much fun for them. As for the free pool school, I suggest you read the one on here and take what the others said with a grain of salt at least on the chemical side. Too many times they are not accurate with what they say and they are a business out to make money. This forum is all about helping people, nothing more. BTW, I cannot see the pictures for some reason. Maybe blocked at work. :shock:

The pics show up, so I'm not sure why you can't see them. Odd.

Actually, the "pool School" we went to didn't try to sell us chemicals and actually told us what we need, how to test, and we could get our chemicals anywhere we want. Once they said that, we trusted them a bit more because we knew they weren't out to make a dime on us after the install.

I will read the Pool School on here as well and compare notes. Thanks for the advice.

Cool, that helps. My concern would be the use of chemicals that have CYA already in them. So many folks have their CYA get out of control because of bad info. I'll try this tomorrow at home, I bet I see the pics there. :-D

Pics worked perfectly at home, must be blocked at work. Looks great, funny how kids don't care what the temp of the water is...at least until they're 16ish. Looks like you have a chlorinator that you would put pucks in. Those are great for vacations when you're away but you don't want to use pucks on a continuous basis. Looking forward to more pics, you have a nice yard but the pool is kinda far from the house... :mrgreen:

Thanks. The girls loved it at 50 degrees while it was filling. Such a great memory.

The chlorinator was the way all companies told me to go. I can dial it up or down dependant on how my free clorine tests. That's what we did. I'm sure I'll learn more as I go along.

The pool is far for a few reasones. First, the top of the yard is where my septic is. Second, the bottom part of the yard is rarely used and was pretty level, s it made sense to place it there. Also, the deck and entry will be off the top part of the yard so we can walk right from the stone retaining wall and onto the deck with no stair climbing.

Hopefully we'll get to start the deck in the next week or two.
