I have been going through the shocking process all week and nearing the end (I thought). I woke up the AM and heard a louder than normal sound coming from the pool equipment house. I checked the pressure of the filter and it was up to 12 (normally runs at 6). I backwashed it and the pressure dropped. However, when I turned filter back on, my water clouded up again. It was like cloudy water was being shot into the pool through the filter spouts. Anyone know whats going on? My water was almost crystal clear before this happened. I'm also curious about the loud noise. Thank you.

Did you seat the multiport valve back in position good? Did the handle return to the normal position? It could be a bad spider gasket.
Yes, I seated the valve in position good. The handle did return to normal position. Could it have been that I didn't backwash long enough?
No I didn't rinse after backwashing! Lesson learned. Do you think that was the problem? If so, how long to clear it up again?
Forgetting to rinse allowed some DE to get into the pool. It should settle to the bottom overnight and then you can vacuum it up.
