Is it OK to have pump filter below ground level

I will be putting up an Intex 18'x48" Ultra Frame soon.

I have a sunken cement patio the is roughly 3 feet below ground level.
I have a 1HP Hayward Pump - 16" Sand Filter combo.
I have an Intex SWG.
I have a solar heater.

The pool will be installed on level ground in the back yard about 6 feet from the sunken patio. I would like to put the pump/filter and SWG on the sunken patio (3 feet below ground level) and then plump a bypass for the solar heater at ground level after the SWG on the return path to the pool. So essentially I would have:

(18'x48") Pool --> (3 ft. drop) Hayward 1HP Pump/SF --> SWG --> (3 ft. rise) Solar Heater w/Bypass --> Pool

This would make the base of the pump/filter ~ 7ft below water level. Will this combination work with a 1HP/16"SF Hayward pump? I would really like to keep the pump and filter off of the grass and save some room for the solar heater.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Scott
