Newbie, PH question

Hello again,

I have a question regarding my 12 by 36 Summer escapes pool. I have the basic "drops" tester that I picked up at Wallmart. The Chlorine shows very high, and the PH very low. My question is, can household baking soda be used to raise the PH?

No. Baking soda will raise TA. Use borax to raise the PH. Borax can be found in the laundry isle of most larger grocery stores.

Thank you for your reply. I was not aware Borax could be used. I will give it a try later today. Just dump a bit in, and check it again?

You really need to read POOL SCHOOL it will help you. The POOL CALCULATOR will get you the proper amounts to add.

OK, so after some education....is it safe to say that if I have had a cover on the pool for most of the week, the PH will be low?
