Have a 20 foot above ground Summer Escapes pool. The filter and pump system use the skimmer like this one: http://www.brandsonsale.com/hg-0053281.html. Mine is the 2000 GPH pump that has been discontinued. I can pay the $209 for the 1500 GPH pump and skimmer, but would like to go to something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Intex-Easy- ... 5191f45f27.

Anyone tried to use something like this by cutting a hole in the side of the pool just below the level of the skimmer opening? It looks like it comes with the output that just needs a hole in the side of the pool?

One suggestion was to remove the impeller from my pump, then attach this pump to the output on the pump, and go. Problem is my pump broke and leaks, so that's not an option.....

Thoughts? Anybody tried by cutting a hole in the pool? Any worries that it would be hard to ever make it not leak?

I cut into the side of the pool, and replaced my summer escapes pump with an intex pump as well. I suggest emptying the pool down below the 2 holes you will be cutting. Use a utility knife and or a razor blade. If you can not empty the pool, you can have somebody stand inside the pool and hold a bowl against the hole while you work. Good luck
