Hayward salt and swim?

Anyone have experience with this new model? Says for pools up to 25000 gal, comes in a 6 month or 1yr cell, replacement cells are about what bleach would cost for a season in my dad's pool, he only needs the 6 month version.

$550 to start then $200 each year for a new cell.

Sounds like a winner. Would make his pool more trouble free which is right up his alley. Supposedly easy 20 minute install.

I assume you would still run a higher 70-80 ppm CYA with this? His pool is only 11,000 gal so we could probably get buy with running the cell on lower output to increase life.

We haven't had anyone on the forum actually report that they've bought one, so it's hard to say how good a deal it is. If the cells really only last for 6 months or 1 year, you'd be far better off in the long run buying a standard full size system with a cell that lasts for several years.

Using $200 in bleach in a season sounds really high for that small a pool. Based on the available information, if he wants to go salt, it's better to go full-size.

I've done more reading, it appears the CompuPool is a respected reliable unit.

Price isn't bad as well. However it's for an above ground pool up to 20,000 gal. Any reason it wouldn't work just fine on an IG of 11,000 gal?

Would this one be a better choice-

I assume it should be able to run on a lower setting making the cell last longer?

Assuming a properly balanced pool and a 6 month season, how long can one expect the cell to last? Would the cell need cleaned more than at the start of each season?
