Intex 2650 Sand Filter/SWG Combo

Hi guys, sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn't find the answer. I have an Intex 2650 GPH sand filter and SWG combo with copper ionization. I've been reading that the consensus around here is to not add any extra copper to the water. So if i want to not use the copper ionization, can i simply unplug the plug that goes to the copper plates? Or will this effect my SWG also? Thanks in advance.

You can just unhook the plug going to the copper bars and everything else will work fine.
