Above Ground Pool Border

I just installed an Intex 16x48 above ground pool. I had to level the yard a bit, so it left about a 14" ledge on the high side of the pool. It goes all the way around the pool and tapers as it gets to the other side of the pool. Currently there is about 12" between the edge of the pool and the ledge. My next project is what to do with that. My initial thought was to build a retaining wall from a 2x12 or something that would be staked in place just outside the legs all the way around. Then fill in the dirt between the retaining wall and ledge.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

I think something like that is a good idea; you don't want the dirt washing down and pressing against the outside of the liner! Using something like landscape timbers, railroad ties, or concrete blocks would probably be better than trying with a 2x12.
