intex filter upgrade

anyone have experience upgrading intex pool filter model 637 (800 gph) to sand filter? i've got a 15 foot intex pool, but had trouble with dirty water all last summer.. the pump has 1 1/4 inch diameter hoses.. and clamps to plastic tubing coming out of the pool siding.. think most sand filters utilize 1 1/2 inch hoses..

Most above ground pools use 1 1/4" tubing. However, Intex uses non standard connetors but they do sell inexpensive connection converters on their website for hooking up a regular AGP 'skid pack' (pump and filter).

When I had my Intex, I upgraded to hard pvc, new pump, and sand filter. I bought return fittings from the pool store and they fit into the Intex holes.
