How do I know how many gallons in my pool?

Hello all:

I am a first time pool owner - VERY happy to have found this forum.

I ordered my test kit, am reading in pool school, and getting my signature ready so I can ask ya'll questions when I get some test number ..but I have no facts on the size of the pool. It came with the house I purchased but has no background info or instruction manual .

Is there a way to estimate how many gallons is in the pool?

Just calculate the volume in cubic feet and convert to gallons.

There is a calculator at the bottom of poolcalculator.com to help estimate the volume.

Break out the tape measure!

Thanks guys - it's tape measure time!

 

[CaOCl2]

Measure free chlorine down to 0.2 ppm.
Add a measured amount of chlorine.
Let it circulate well.
Measure free chlorine again.
Note the increase and do the math.
