Dolphin only spends it's time in the deep end?

Hi guys, our pool came with a nice Dolphin cleaner and I'm wondering if it's moody or if I'm using it wrong! I thought the dolphins are supposed to "learn" the layout of the pool and clean the whole thing, but mine seems to spend almost all of its time in the deeper areas of the pool and neglects the shallow end - even if I start it in the shallow end.

Is there a trick to these things?

Mine does that when the bag is dirty. Have you tried running the bag through the washing machine yet?

Nope, just been manually emptying it which still leaves a small amount of residual debris. I'll have my wife run it thru the wash tonite to see if that does the trick!

Maytronics recommends running it through the washer about once a month.

I have this problem with mine now and it is brand new. Do I need to run it through the wash before the first time using it?

Ditto for mine - just bought the DX4 on Friday last and have run it three times already and each time it misses the area right on front of the steps in my shallow end. What's doubly frustrating is that that's where the jets pile up most of the debris in the shallow part of my pool.
