Help with my TA 50 sand filter

Hello everyone! After reading here about sand channeling, I decided to go ahead and use our garden hose to clean out the sand. When I went to take off the multi port valve, the whole standpipe and laterals came with it!!!!!!! Can i get the laterlas back don to the bottom of the filter without taking out all the sand?? It seems like I might be able to GENTLY push it back down to the bottom...

That would be one daunting job. I can't see how you can seat the standpipe effectively when it'll be buried in that sand. I think you'll have to empty it to do it right.

Thats what I thought......any ideas how to get the laterals off the stand pipe to make it easier to get the sand out???

Best technique I've heard of is to use a shop vac to vacuum the sand out. Once the drum is empty, replace the pipe and laterals, and gently put the sand back.

The laterals thread into the hub on the stand pipe, so if you haven't figured it out yet, just unscrew them and remove them from the vessel.
