I think I ruined the pool party...

My chlorine level dipped down to 1ppm so before I left for work I turned on the stenner pump and set the timer for 2hrs.
When I got home in the morning my chlorine level was 18ppm.
I forgot that I had the pump on the highest setting which is 17 gallons over 24 hrs.
Im using 12% chlorine.
Anyway today we had a party planned - is there anything I can do to make the pool safe to swim in?
I would think that 18% is way to high for swimmers.

What are your CYA levels?

As long as your FC level is below shock level given your CYA level you will be fine. But you need to know what your CYA level is to figure that out.

Shock level for CYA of 50 is FC 20. You are below that so have a good time!

CYA of 50 combined with FC of 18 is fine....go swimming.

PS - it's not 18%, of course but 18ppm.....get back up there in Pool School after the party!! :mrgreen:

In fact you may have made it better. You won't have to worry about the FC level getting too low during the party. :-D

People may notice some fresh bleach-like chlorine smell, but it still won't be as strong as in many indoor commercial/public pools that don't use any CYA.
