been shocking for 2 days now, water is still green, sand filter running 24/7 with backwash as pressure increases

We'd like a full set of test results, and yes, it can take longer depending how bad it is.

The shock process can take a week or longer....depends on just how bad the pool is to begin with and how well you stick to the process described in Pool School. So, yeah, it's mostly a matter of time but you can help it in many ways. Have you read the article in Pool School?

Ya i have read it, pool is less green now, looks like it just takes time, ready to throw another round of chlorine at night
