Algae guard overdose

I'm setting up a new pool, 17'x48" around 6,000 gallons and used HTH algae guard that contains 9.96% dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. The directions say for initial setup to add 64 ounces to 25,000 gallons of water. Problem is I added the whole gallon or 128 ounces to my pool. Is this safe or do I need to drain the pool?

Welcome to TFP.

How expensive is your water? If it's cheap I'd drain 80% of the water and start over.

Having said that, you don't need algaecide at all. All you have to do is read Pool School and maintain the pool according to the levels suggested here and you will never have algae and it'll be a lot easier and cheaper on you.
