The AGP we are getting comes with a 1hp filter system is this sufficent for a 24x52 pool?

Probably bigger than it needs to be, but if it's matched to the filter it will be fine.

That is about the right basic size, however typically the standard packages include too large of a pump and too small of a filter. So, while that system is sure to work, you might be able to do better by purchasing a smaller pump and a larger filter separately.

It's a pentair pump and filter. I have noticed that a few people here have them. So they must be pretty decent????

Pentair makes good quality equipment but that doesn't tell you if it is well matched to your pool or not. Do you have a specific model number for the unit you are looking at? They make several different models that are all 1 HP.
