sand filter

My pool installer only put 150 pounds of sand in my 200 pound filter. He said it will work better. I think he did it because that was all he had on the truck. Is there any truth to this or should I go buy another bag of sand?

Go get the sand. You are missing some of your filter's capacity.

Those filters are designed for the amount of sand recommended and should have that much installed. You haven't hurt anything but as Dave said, Your filter is operating as efficiently as it was designed for.
